To all my sewing friends,
It seems like every day I hear of someone I know or someone my friends know has Breast Cancer. It brings tears to my eyes as I write this note. It still doesn't seem real until it is someone in your family. When I got a call one day and my Mom said I have a "lump" in my breast it suddenly became real. That was my best friend saying-well you know-I might not be here too much longer. Too many people get this call from their best friends. My story turns out well. My mom is healthy. Others leave us too early and they will be missed.
It is up to us to try to stamp out Breast Cancer in our life time. We don't want to lose any more best friends, Mom, daughters or sisters.
One of my students gave me the idea for the pillow. She said there are no "pretty" projects you can make quickly and take to a friend.
So I did the pillow project and then I made a sweater with the Pink bows all over it and put my Mom's name on it. As I told the story of the sweater my students would say "would you put my name on it, I am 7 years free" and so on. I realized at that point I would run out of room on that sweater very quickly and it would take many sweaters. I need your help!! We need lots of sweaters with lots of names so we can continue to donate our time and money to Breast Cancer Research and Education.
Please make these projects for fundraisers and donate the proceeds. Please send me photos and ideas of any personal or group activities using "My Mom and Friends" CD. Include names, dates, store name or group name. Also information on the amount of money raised and where it was donated. I will post it all on a special "Breast Cancer Page" on my web site.
